Now that I’m doing some seriously hi-res artwork for my Society6 shop I’m discovering that my poor lappy really does not like working with image sizes larger than about 6,000x6,000. I keep getting memory swap errors and corrupted images when I try to export to PNG. I guess 8 gigs isn’t enough somehow.

It might not take more than 16GB (or possibly even 8GB), depending on the chipset/era.
These upgrades involve swapping both modules for bigger ones and removing the old ones...

Here’s more RAM.

My laptop is supposed to be able to support up to 32 gigs. I could buy two 8gig sticks and toss them in there but that’s $80 that I have better things to spend on.

That’s certainly bad timing as RAM prices right now are horrible. The upside being your laptop is upgradeable and that’s far cheaper than a new one.

That wasn’t worth the mobile data it took to load.

Yes it was

Are you working with vector graphics? If not, you should. It’ll mitigate the memory issues and you can export at whatever size you like.

I have not the first clue what [free] programs to do vector graphics with with nor how to use them.

Inkscape is a little clunky, but it is free and it does vectors.

Adobe cc is like 50 bucks a month. Or if you have an @school.edu email you could get it for 20 bucks a month. Just use illustrator

I am not subscribing to software. That’s bullshit. $50 represents like three days worth of food.

I’ve used Inkscape and it was alright but I ended up buying affinity designer ($40, iirc) and I consider it well worth its money.
I have done any designs in a while so not having subscription based software is great (fuck Adobe CC).

The whole notion of subscription based software is just bogus.
